Pray for South Sudan

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior.
(1 Timothy 2:1-3, NIV)

South Sudan is a land of expansive grassland, swamps and tropical rain forest connecting both banks of the White Nile. Among the largest ethnic groups found here are the Dinka, Nuer and Shilluk.

Decades of civil war and inter-tribal conflict has claimed millions of lives, causing unspeakable suffering and destroying the nation’s economy and infrastructure.

This has meant that thousands of Sudanese have spent many years as refugees in neighbouring countries, particularly in Kenya.Even after South Sudan became an independent state in 2011, there is continued political and ethnic unrest.
We need prayer for our country. We need the Lord’s wisdom and blessing on our country. We face difficult situations at this time in our country but God is indeed able to let peace, unity, reconciliation and political stability prevail.

Let us allow our love for our country and patriotism to rise up in us. Let us seek God’s face, be dedicated to our Lord, and pray.

Please join with us and lift up these prayers for South Sudan, its citizens and the Church.
